Overview

This role will work within the dynamic controls team group to provide mentoring opportunities from experienced Control Engineers with expertise in software development in the vehicle accessory integration Energy Storage System fields. You will work with them to validate new hardware for vehicle integration components on test stands and on-vehicle as well as analyse data and create extensions to existing tools and workflow in order to more effectively carry out tasks. Along with this mentoring opportunity you will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of initiative, autonomy and dedication to find create solution to challenging problems.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. Candidates already in the UK and working under Tier 2 Sponsorship will also be considered.

Responsibilities and Activities

  • Validation of new components communication and logic through test stands and on-vehicle testing;
  • Integration of new or existing EV vehicle component interfaces, logic and diagnostics into ancillary controller software;
  • Setup and review data collection from test, creating collection or post-processing scripts, tools or dashboards as needed;
  • Model-based code generation onto embedded controller;
  • Debugging C/C++ code that interfaces with model-based generated code;
  • MiL, SiL, HiL and hardware bench testing of control algorithms and software;
  • Input into FMEA of system control software;
  • On-vehicle testing of controls software functionality.

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Proficient use of Matlab / Simulink;
  • Experience with C/C++ for embedded applications;
  • Experience with embedded controllers;
  • Experience with CAN tools (PEAK CAN, CANalyzer, etc.);
  • Experience with software version control;
  • Experience in embedded controls for automotive;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Motivation and enthusiasm to takes ownership of problems and sees them through to a conclusion;
  • Passionate about attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality content.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Python for data analysis;
  • Experience testing system control software on vehicles;
  • Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and CompactRIO;
  • Experience with SAE J1939 standard;
