You will be part of the Electrification R&D Mechanical Systems Team working on commercial vehicle electrification projects. You will report directly to the Engineering Manager and your project lead. Achieving your goals will be challenging but immensely rewarding, and you will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of initiative, autonomy, perseverance and dedication.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. Candidates already in the UK and working under Tier 2 Sponsorship will also be considered.


Responsibilities and Activities

  • Design for manufacture of components and assemblies for electrification R&D projects;
  • System sizing and integration of EV powertrain components;
  • FEA/CFD of designed components;
  • Documenting design requirements, undertaking design reviews and creating assembly drawings;
  • Vehicle integration activities including duty cycle analysis;
  • Co-ordinate product verification testing for novel design solutions & analysis of results;
  • Provide input to project planning;
  • Project scope definition & creation of work packages.

Skills and Experience


  • Mechanical Engineering Honours Degree or similar;
  • A solid command of a 3D CAD modelling software preferably Autodesk Inventor;
  • Confident grasp of drawing for manufacture and GDT, preferably to BS8888;
  • Experience and confidence in FEA;
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing techniques for sheet metal, extrusions, plastic components and machining;
  • Capable at data analysis, preferably using MATLAB;
  • Experience of liaising with external supply resource to deliver components on time & within specification;
  • Capable of presenting design solutions to the wider business;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Experience of project planning and work package estimation.


  • Experience working on HV systems;
  • Experience in automotive hybrid/electric powertrains;
  • Experience designing lithium-ion battery systems;
  • General workshop/assembly skills;
  • Experience and confidence in CFD.
