Vantage Power wins UK Business Angels Award
On 5th July 2016, Vantage Power was announced as the winner of the UK Business Angels Best Investment in Internet of Things award for 2016. The award was presented by Tom Yoritaka, Global Managing Director, Cisco EIR, at the annual awards dinner at the Dorchester Hotel.
Cisco Entrepreneurs in Residence (Cisco EIR) is Cisco’s corporate venturing program that recognizes and supports early-stage entrepreneurs focusing on the Internet of Everything/Things (IoE/IoT), AI/Deep Learning/Big Data, Enterprise Mobility, Cloud, Security and other transformational opportunities. The program provides startups/scaleups with opportunities to build strategic relationships with Cisco Business Units & executives, co-working space, software, financial support and potential strategic funding. Originally launched in Silicon Valley in 2013, Cisco EIR has expanded its presence across the US, Europe and beyond – and has created co-creation and partnership opportunities with Cisco for 33 startups/scaleups from over a half-dozen countries to date.
The UKBAA awards focus on celebrating the achievement and impact of the UK Angel investment communities and their role in backing the UK's most exciting high growth businesses. Now in their 11th year, the annual UK Angel Investment Awards recognise the high growth and success of the UK's fastest growing brands, acknowledging the angels, crowdfund and early stage venture capital investors supporting them from startup to scale-up.
This award, sponsored by Cisco EIR, is aimed at early stage businesses which are building a high growth potential businesses in the Internet of Things (IoT). The award is open to any aspect or application of IoT. As the winner of this award Vantage Power demonstrated that our IoT business is innovative, has the capability to disrupt the market or industry and has capacity to achieve high growth.
The judges said, "The business has demonstrated a highly disruptive technology, bringing an innovative Smart IoT big data solution to the huge global challenge of ensuring an effective urban public transport system. Vantage Power have effectively mobilised investment from Angels, Corporates and Government grants to support further development and shown clear added value from their investors."
