Vantage Power's retrofitted bus takes to the roads!
After 9 months of extensive testing, the B320-powered Trident went into passenger-carrying service on Ensign's route 22, which operates between Averly and Grays, Essex. Both fuel consumption and noise were noticeably reduced over the day's 200km worth of driving, and feedback from the drivers was excellent.
About the B320
The B320 System is a hybrid powertrain that is designed to retrofit into buses already on the road. Developed over the course of 2013 and 2014, the B320 represents the latest in hybrid technology including a liquid cooled lithium ion battery, over-the-air software updates, and remote control and telemetry.
Rather than having to buy new hybrid buses, the B320 System enables operators to maximise the return of existing assets with substantially lower up-front and through-life costs, whilst providing all the benefits of hybrid technology: smooth acceleration, low noise/vibration, high fuel savings and emissions compliance.
